Welcome to the EartherVerse

Five completed novels. Three new trilogies in progress. One prophecy that spans galaxies.

The Wanderer launches you from a broken Earth into an alien galaxy where family, sacrifice, and destiny collide.

The EartherVerse is the result of decades of work—a fully realized sci-fi universe that opens with a five-book saga and is ready for cross-platform adaptation.

This professionally edited saga spans military trials, political collapse, interstellar war, and the slow, painful work of healing. It’s a story of identity, legacy, and the fate of two civilizations. And it’s just the beginning: Additional trilogies and standalone stories are already in development.

The EartherVerse extends beyond the page. I designed it for scalable long-form storytelling across screen, game, and merchandise platforms, with original ships, factions, and characters. Use the top menu to:

David C. Johnson

David, a farmer in Omapeka on post-Destruction Earth, was never meant to lead a galactic crusade. But a freak accident, a cryptic prophecy, and a relentless desire to matter propelled him into the stars. David carried the weight of humanity’s past and possible future as a fierce soldier, reluctant savior, absent husband, and symbol. He sought order in chaos and meaning in war, and became a man both elevated and consumed by the role others needed him to play. His legacy endures in the people who love him and carry on without him.

David Johnson

Eva Johnson

Gentle, grounded, and often underestimated, Eva Johnson learned how to survive without losing herself. She practiced medicine, loved deeply, and carried the quiet burden of holding everyone together while her brother chased destiny. But war, loss, and impossible choices reshape even the most steadfast hearts. In the crucible of grief and survival, Eva grows into more than a sister or a healer—she becomes a leader who walks the path of love with open eyes, even when it threatens to break her.

Eva Johnson

Quardir

Quardir is a fully sentient robot originally built by the mysterious Professor Bzzdukuzz. He becomes a mentor and friend to David and Eva and guides them on their journeys, going so far as to safeguard Eva, Lisa, and their children after war breaks out and destroys the Johnson family home.

Quardir the robot

Arlo Ravenger

Arlo is David's best friend during their time at Basic Flight School and TFOC. He is a direct descendant of Declan Ravenger, whose forces held off the final Dimenoan onslaught of the first galactic war long enough for the Sentient races to flee across the galaxy and found what would become the Second Federation of Worlds and the Independent Sector. His head is tattooed in the pattern of Declan's shield during the Rite of Rememberance where initiates remember the pain of those who fought that others could be free.

Arlo Ravenger

Lisa Heikes

Lisa Heikes lives at the ragged edge of grief and grace as a recovering addict with a soul steeped in music. Once discarded by society and haunted by shame, she finds unexpected purpose in a galaxy that neither asked for her nor knew what to make of her. Through love, loss, motherhood, and memory, Lisa becomes a mirror for those around her as she reflects not what they want, but who they are. She does not believe in destiny but answers when it calls.

Lisa Heikes

Maradei Busumanii

Maradei Busumanii is an intelligent, perceptive, and impossibly kind curator of art, history, memory, and love. She walks through trauma not by fighting it, but by witnessing it. In a galaxy of soldiers and strategists, Maradei listens, remembers, and offers a softer kind of strength. Her presence leaves echoes in those who loved her, and even in death, she remains both a quiet and constant tether to what was and a whisper of what still might be.

Maradei Busumanii

Alyya Puquoo

Alyya Puquoo was shaped by a society that prized social standing and the trappings of power and domination above all else. She rose through the ranks of the Stellar Fleet by ruthless skill and sheer will. Her fall from grace was swift—and her path to redemption more complex than war or peace allows. Both feared and misunderstood, Alyya is a woman burdened by prophecy, survival, and the knowledge that even her worst choices were made with clear intent.

Alyya Puquoo

Zyra Xurlio

Zyra is a Sarcha Planetary Guardsman and loyal partner to Eva Johnson. Stoic yet fiercely principled, she navigates the brutality of frontline service with competence and heart until the war demands too much. As the Federation fractures and casualties mount, Zyra becomes both witness and sacrifice, her choices echoing through the family she fought to protect. Her legacy lingers in letters, in memories, and in the woman who loved her most.

Zyra Xurlio

Grunf Lupercus

Supreme Commanding Officer, Stellar Fleet of the Second Federation of Worlds. He directly oversees the fleet aided by twelve junior Fleet Admirals and takes a personal interest in David Johnson along with High Commissioner Waz'hazij.

Grunf Lupercus

Darmeru Waz'Hazij

A key member of the High Commission of the Second Federation of Worlds. His kind eyes and ready smile mask a deep cunning, knowledge of politics, and willingness to use Sentients to further whatever he sees as being in the Second Federation's best interests. Are he and Fleet Admiral Lupercus steering David? If so, to what end? What use, if any, do they see for ancient prophecy that most dismiss as a children's story?

Angmar Faranji

A fighter pilot and skeptic. Faranji took David for his first fighter ride soon after he and Eva awoke aboard the frigate Quirl after being rescued from the derelict Lucky Lynn, thus cementing David's desire to become a Fleet officer. He later served under Tamor and David about the heavy cruiser Defender.

Angmar Faranji

Johanus Fraik

Something in Fraik's past keeps him at the rank of Lieutenant after decades of Fleet service. He commands the caravel Xrych and mentors David as he does other officers. His methods are unorthodox, but Fraik earns the respect and admiration of all who serve under him.

Gertrude Kellem

David's Aunt Gertrude is the major of the Chryse Planitia Pleasure Colony on Mars and responsible for exiling his family to a harsh life on Omapeka after claiming that her brother Horace (David and Eva's father) failed to obtain a reproduction permit for Eva. Nevertheless, she showers David with computers and data cards that include all the training David needs to pilot the Lucky Lynn into space and become the stuff of prophecy.

Nesmuhaneru Tamor

Ych’thoman Chavin

Rear Admiral Chavin commands the Basic Flight and Fleet Fighter Schools on Tawantin when David and Arlo receive their intial flight training. He sees David's potential but disciplines him for violating flight restrictions, which leads to Arlo earning the Honor Graduate title at the completion of flight training. Even so, he sees real skill in both young pilots and assigns them to TFOC on Vegax for advanced fighter training.

Lynn Johnson

David's former fiancée, who was left behind in Omapeka on post-Destruction Earth when she declined his invitation to fly to Mars. She never believed David would return from Mars but remains loyal until time and circumstances prove her wrong. Horace and Esther eventually took her in, at she adopted the Johnson name.

Horace Johnson

David and Eva's father fell in love with Esther on the Chryse Planitia Pleasure Colony on Mars. David's birth without a valid reproduction permit earned him a year of hard labor. He and Esther claim they obtained a permit for Eva, but Gertrude (Horace's sister and mayor of the Pleasure Colony) doesn't believe him and exiles the family to Earth. Like all Earthers, his body bears witness to the horrible conditions in Omapeka. He was thirty-seven years old when David and Eva left for Mars.

SFFV Dawnstar

This is the Fleet Vessel David sees in his recurring dreams since childhood and lead ship of the largest cruisers ever fielded by the Second Federation of Worlds.

  • Length: 2,000 metrons
  • Crew: 10,000 (including 500 Fleet Marines)
  • Armament:
    • 4 main cannon
    • 12 anti-destroyer turrets
    • 144 quad turrets
    • 48 antimatter missiles
    • 24 missile batteries with 128 missiles each
  • Small craft:
    • 84 Fang fighters
    • 36 Strike Fang fighters
    • 6 Expedition-class dropships
    • Various shuttles and other support craft

SFFV Dawnstar

Caravel

These are the smallest type of Fleet Vessel that normally provide fire support and sensor platforms for fighters launched from larger ships. A typical caravel carries three fighters and one small shuttle mounted on hardpoints on the underside of the hull for close-in defense during routine law enforcement and other security missions. During peacetime, caravels can patrol alone or in small task forces. Wartime sees clouds of these ships surrounding larger Fleet Vessels and moving forward with attacking fighters.

Caravel

Frigate

Frigates can patrol alone and typically include a hangar bay capable of housing six fighters and one or two small to medium shuttles. Their primary wartime functions are to screen task forces against incoming fighters and caravels. To this end, their main cannon are mounted on turrets to better track incoming caravels and other opposing forces. They also include several missile batteries for enhanced defensive capabilities.

Frigate

Destroyer

A destroyer is the workhorse of any fleet. Second Federation destroyers carry up to 24 fighters and several shuttles in addition to Marine contingents for heavy law enforcement and security missions. That said, the destroyer's prime function is attacking enemy capital ships by firing a salvo of six antimatter missiles that surround and crush their target when properly aimed and detonated. They also include large banks of standard missiles for offensive or defensive work, but are relatively lightly outfitted with small armaments such as quad turrets. The exacting nature of their work makes multiple highly calibrated sensors a necessity, hence the two sensor sails often found on this type of Fleet Vessel.

Destroyer

Yutu

This one-seat superiority fighter is where Alyaa Puquoo and David Johnson earned their wings. Each Yutu is armed with two forward-facing plaz cannon plus six short-range Ehecat missiles and two long-range Tanut missiles. The training variant adds an instructor seat behind the pilot.

Yutu fighter

Fang

This fearsome machine was first flown by David Johnson and Specialist Boorhaq on the planet Tawantin. Fang fighters double the number of forward-facing plaz cannon to four and move them from the engine tubes to the fins for improved fields of fire. The enlisted rear gunner can swivel their seat forward for standoff attacks using Ehecat or Tanut missiles or can swivel backward to keep pursuers at bay using the aft-facing quad turret. This exceptional firepower plus vector-thrusting engine nozzles and grav dampening make this the galaxy's premier fighter.

Fang fighter

Strike Fang

Strike Fangs are built on the Fang chassis but add a bombardier in front of the pilot plus numerous ground-attack munitions. These variants provide on-demand close air support to Fleet Marines, Expeditionary Forces, or Planetary Guard troops at need. Their reduced visibility and increased loadout makes them less maneuverable than their standard counterparts, but Strike Fangs can more than hold their own in any dogfight. When not needed for ground support, they can fly in support of space operations, attacking enemy fighters and ships with conventional and antimatter warheads.

Strike Fang

Dropship (Expedition Class)

Dropships ferry personnel and equipment to and from planet surfaces. They are heavily armed and armored to safely fly into combat zones and deploy ground forces. They also include heavy weapons designed to soften up nearby ground positions to protect assaulting troops. Dropships come in a wide variety of sizes. The largest are the Expeditionary class, which can ferry 500 normal or 100 Heavy Infantry troops into or out of combat. Their wingtip engines can rotate from horizontal (normal flight) to vertical (hovering) depending on the current need.

Dropship

Heavy Infantry

A Heavy Infantry suit is a four-metron-tall armored exoskeleton that carries a single Sentient soldier. It carries missiles in chest packs and grenades and other armament in hard points mounted on the arms. Handheld weapons, such as plaz rifles and battering rams, can also be carried. The optional booster pack even provides limited "pop up" capability for short flights, such as when a Marine rescued a scientist by taking off from and landing back on a dropship in flight.

Heavy Infantry

Fighter (Dimenoan)

There is nothing remarkable about this class of fighter except the sheer numbers fielded by the Dimenoans. Second Federation fighters rely on extremely well-trained pilots and vastly superior specifications in an ongoing attempt to beat quantity with quality.

The Wanderer

Book One of the Biography of an Earther

A dying Earth. A distant galaxy. A broken young man thrust into a looming war... and a prophecy he may not survive.

Exiled from the Mars Pleasure Colonies as a child, David Johnson grows up surviving on post-Destruction Earth and trusting no one but his sister, Eva. A freak accident launches them into another galaxy, where an advanced civilization offers food, medicine, and a second chance.

The Second Federation of Worlds may be the key to rebuilding Earth and saving what's left of humanity. Reaching that goal will require David to become something the galaxy hasn’t seen in a long time: an instrument of prophecy.

He joins the Stellar Fleet and fights to earn his place while building a case to return home as powerful forces shape his path to uncertain ends. Is David the hero he wants to be? Or is he a pawn in someone else's game?

Those Left Behind

Book Two of the Biography of an Earther

A bungled return. A love he never expected. A choice that could unravel everything the prophecy demands.

Captain David Johnson commands the Fleet Vessel Dawnstar on a mission to return to Earth and fulfill the prophecy. But the journey goes awry when he and his crew arrive six centuries too early and find themselves stranded in a time that can’t know them.

David explores the pre-Destruction Earth of long before his birth and encounters Lisa Heikes: sharp-witted, wounded, and wholly unbound by the prophecy that brought him here. She is the first person to ever see him not as a savior or symbol, but as a man.

War looms in the Second Federation and secrets fester beneath the surface while David faces a choice between duty and desire, future and past. Can he still fulfill his destiny, or will love rewrite his story and the fate of two galaxies?

Those Left Behind deepens the saga with a raw, character-driven collision of survival, identity, and hope where winning the heart of one woman may change the fate of trillions.

Prophecy’s Edge

Book Three of the Biography of an Earther

A love once sacrificed returns on the eve of war as the Second Federation of Worlds teeters on the brink of collapse.

David and Lisa Johnson want nothing more than to marry, retire, and raise a child... but the galaxy has other plans. The Fleet recalls David to active duty when a smear campaign threatens to destroy his legacy and hasten the Second Federation's slide into open war.

Lisa struggles to define herself in a civilization that wasn’t built for her and finds an unexpected bond with Maradei—the lover she somehow remembers from before they ever met. Their connection forms an emotionally charged triad, and their daughter, Raia, may hold the key to something far greater than anyone imagined.

Betrayal strikes from within, grief reshapes everything, and the prophecy draws nearer to its breaking point. Prophecy’s Edge is a heart-wrenching fusion of intimacy and fate where love forges a family and the cost of destiny is steep.

Apocalypse

Book Four of the Biography of an Earther

The long-awaited war tears through the Second Federation and shatters the family David Johnson fights to protect.

David commands a failing campaign against the Dimenoan hordes while Lisa remains behind to raise their daughter, grieve the woman they both loved, and hold the family together with no promise of reunion.

Eva and Zyra Johnson face both the brutality and the boredom of war while navigating duty, survival, and each other. Conflict engulfs the galaxy and threatens to take the Johnson family with it.

Apocalypse descends into trauma, love, and irreversible loss, where no battlefield is more brutal than the home front—and where ghosts, memories, and prophecy refuse to stay buried.

Awakening

Book Five of the Biography of an Earther

A final mission. A prophecy fulfilled. A legacy carried forward by those who remain.

The war against the Dimenoans has fractured the galaxy and reduced the Second Federation to ashes. Fleet Admiral David Johnson leads a last-ditch effort to return to Earth, restore what was lost, and fulfill the prophecy that has haunted him since his escape from post-Destruction Earth.

But this homecoming is anything but triumphant. Old enemies resurface, long-buried secrets rise, and those closest to David begin to question the cost of the dream he built. Lisa and Eva must navigate war’s aftermath, impossible love, and the moral weight of survival as they decide what future to fight for and what to leave behind.

In the shadow of it all, David and Lisa’s daughter Raia emerges as a soul touched by memory and mystery—one who may hold the key to everything the prophecy never said. Awakening concludes the saga with profound intimacy and cosmic scope by meditating on grief, rebirth, and what it means to come home when nothing is the same.

▶ The Women

These books chronicle the lives of the key women readers met in the Biography of an Earther as we start to understand that the story may not be about David after all.

The Earther’s Wife

Melody • Dissonance • Chorus

A broken woman. A love she never expected. A fight to rebuild a life worth living.

Lisa Heikes battles addiction, trauma, and the loss of everything she once held dear until David Johnson arrives from another galaxy and changes her life forever. Told in intimate first-person, this trilogy is a story of survival, queerness, motherhood, and hope... and how one woman’s refusal to disappear becomes her greatest act of resistance.

  • Melody follows her descent and her first steps toward healing.
  • Dissonance chronicles her new life on a distant world with Eva Johnson and the children she never expected to raise.
  • Chorus completes Lisa’s life and legacy and ushers her into the next phase of her eternal existence.

Read a sample chapter from Melody Note: This is an early draft still in progress.

The Earther’s Flame

Flight • Faultlines • Reckoning

A feared woman. A war she never wanted. A legacy no one saw coming.

The galaxy sees Alyya Puquoo as a villain, but her truth is far more complicated. Born into a ruthless society, shaped by combat, and demonized by history, Alyya’s journey is one of exile, survival, and ultimately purpose. Told in both first and third-person, this trilogy explores identity, redemption, and what it means to rebuild a world you once helped destroy.

  • Flight follows her rise through the Stellar Fleet and the choices that led to her downfall.
  • Faultlines captures her civilian role in Earth’s recovery and the political fractures that threaten to undo it.
  • Reckoning brings Alyya face to face with the culmination of her efforts and the truth about her place in the universe.

Note: This is an early draft still in progress.

She Who Loves Earthers

Stillness • Grace • Witness

A quiet soul. A love that changed galaxies. A presence that endures beyond death.

Maradei Busumanii never sought glory. Born on the peaceful world of Thonis, she spent her life uncovering forgotten truths until love found her in the form of two Earthers who would reshape history. Told with lyrical resonance and quiet power, this trilogy explores compassion, loss, and the unseen forces that shape legacy across lifetimes.

  • Stillness follows Maradei’s childhood on Thonis, her early calling to preserve the past, and the whispers of a name she doesn’t yet understand.
  • Grace charts her career on Sarcha, her relationships with David and Lisa, and her final act of love during the war that costs her life.
  • Witness transcends death itself as Maradei and Zyra watch over those they left behind, culminating in a final, joyful reunion and a new beginning beyond time itself.

Early work in progress.
